This portrait of Alberto Giacometti is dominated by a superb central performance from Geoffrey Rush as the brilliant artist.

Set over a couple of weeks in 1964, Stanley Tucci’s first film in a decade as director focuses on the period when the artist chose to create a portrait of his friend, the art critic James Lord (Armie Hammer). The process, Giacometti assures Lord, will take only a few days. Flattered and intrigued, Lord agrees.
