REGI, MANUS, HUVUDROLL
Förspillda dagar är filmen som var nära att aldrig få biopremiär. Testpubliken förfasade sig över den starka realismen, så när Paramount erbjöds fem miljoner dollar (!) av spritlobbyister för att ”begrava” den alkoholkritiska filmen var man nära att nappa. Men filmen fick premiär, hyllades som en milstolpe av recensenterna och lockade storpublik.
Sjufaldigt Oscarbelönade Billy Wilder (Sunset Boulevard, I hetaste laget) regisserade Ray Milland i sitt livs roll som en misslyckad New York-författare som en ödesdiger weekend hamnar i en sprittstinn spiral som bär raka vägen mot helvetet.
Filmen belönades med de allra största priserna vid Oscar-, Golden Globe- och Cannes-galorna och anses än i dag vara det viktigaste verk som gjorts om alkoholism.
