Launched in 2016, Franchise is a publication highlighting basketball culture.
Style. Sport. Lifestyle. Vibrant, poetic photography and illustrations. Far-flung locales from Los Angeles to Ghana. Music and design collectives. Interviews with both ballers and designers obliterating the paradigm. All of these groundbreaking features are held together by an undying love for basketball and the artifacts of its influence.
In this issue:
Issue 3 continues our goal to highlight basketball culture from around the world.
For the cover we welcome back Pete Deevakul who utilizes basketballs from Tachikara Japan for a unique twist on Ikebana.
The issue also features Daniel Arnold who went to Madison Square Garden to capture a day in the life of the New York Knicks City Dancers. Australia’s Mark Whalen brings his neon-infused style to a watercolor series. Issue 3 profiles the Barcelona-based duo LLobet & Pons’ art Installation series, No One Wins. New Orleans native Ashley Teamer uses a variety of mediums for her art including collages featuring WNBA imagery. Isa Saalabi is a Los Angeles-based photographer who documents emerging high school talent. We have a selection of his images from the Tarkanian Classic. Issue 3 has these artists and much more.
